What Conditions Can Be Treated With Electrolysis?
Electrolysis can be used to treat a number of skin condition including:
- Thread veins
- Blood spots
- Spider naevus
- Skin tags
- Milia
Some of the possible causes of vascular blemishes, milia and skin tags are: ageing, skin fragility, sun damage, excess of alcohol intake, smoking, diet, hormonal, pregnancy, physical trauma (comedone extraction), high impact exercise, hypertension, diabetes, hereditary, etc.
Thread Veins
Thread veins are permanent dilated capillaries (small blood vessels). Capillaries have very thin walls and as we age, these vessels lose their elasticity and can become permanently dilated.
Blood Spots
Blood spots are bright red, superficial and circular vascular
blemishes. These are often round and/or slightly raised and are
frequently found on the midriff. Most people aged over 30 have at least one and they are often more common in men than in women.
Spider Naevus
A spider naevus consists of a central dilated blood vessel with smaller capillaries radiating from it like legs of a spider. They can be found in isolation or gathered together in clumps on areas such as the nose, chin or cheeks.
Skin Tags
Skin tags are lesions mainly found in areas of friction such as the underarm, under the breasts or around the neck where necklaces and collars irritate. They often appear with a stalk attachment, like a mushroom and vary in size from smaller than a grain of uncooked rice to the size of a large pea.
Milia
Milia are tiny, white, hard, round spots which lie superficially under the skin which contain keratin. They are commonly found around the eyes, forehead and cheeks. Their cause is unknown although they are often associated with dry, dehydrated skin.
